Transforming lives by living and learning together in God's love

Lions - Year 1

                                    Hello Lions!

Welcome to our class page.

We are so excited to welcome you to our Year 1 class.

On a Monday and Tuesday in Lions the class teacher is Mrs Rodger.

On a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday the class teacher is Mrs Curtis.

We also have Miss Dozzell and Mrs Syeda working in the class every day.

Please find below some helpful information but please ask if you have any questions.

PE day is on a Wednesday.

Our topic

This half term we will be exploring the story of 'Halibut Jackson' by David Lucas. We will be improving our phonics skills to help us read words. We will also write sentences using finger spaces, capital letters and full stops. This half term we will be writing a recount of what happened in the story. We will be using 'and' in our sentences and thinking about how to order our ideas.

In maths we will carry on learning about number by building on our understanding of addition and subtraction. Then we will move on to consider different 2D and 3D shapes.

In history we will be learning about The Gunpowder Plot and in science we will be exploring our senses.

We will be working on computers to become 'digital artists', learing how to select and use paint tools carefully.

If you have any informal questions then please email lions@stmargaretsipswich.org and we will get back to you when we can.

Any urgent questions, information or absences should be reported to the school office.

Common Words - Year 1 are expected to read and spell these by the end of the year.
