St Margaret's School has been serving the local community for 175 years this year. As part of our celebrations designed to acknowledge the hard work both staff and pupils have put in over the years, we held a whole school week studying the Victorians.
Artefacts were brought in for us to look at and touch, visits were made into our locality in order to notice the legacy the Victorians have left, research conducted, art projects produced and a wealth of interest was created.
An afternoon of entertainment 'music hall style' included some guests from Thornbank, who thoroughly enjoyed a sing-a-long and afternoon tea whilst chatting to some children from Key Stage 2.
The week culminated in a ceremonial cutting of a birthday cake on Friday afternoon, with parents invited to participate.
What will it be like in another 175 years we wonder...?
The students and staff at St Margaret's travelled back in time to experience the Victorian lifestyle. We started the day with a drill followed by lessons in true VICTORIAN style. Here are a few insights into our Victorian week.
