Welcome to 3S
Christmas seems a long time ago and we are well into the new term.
This term Mrs Stopher is teaching all the Literacy and I am teaching all the Numeracy.
In science we are being rock detectives. Already the children are fascinated especially when using the new microscopes.
Work is forging ahead on designing and making an apron and the children are enjoying acquiring new skills.
In Topic we are moving backwards a little in time from the Ancient Egyptians to the Stoneage.
Tuesday 21st February from 10:00-2:00
Classes 3S and 3T are going to the museum.
Any offers of help to accompany us would be much apprecitated. Just speak to any mameber of staff who works in Year 3.
Friday 3rd March Art Day
Our whole school topic is Pop Art. This genre of art is fascinating, colourful and engaging.
We need any clean food labels that you might have plus any colourful magazines. Please send them to school as soon as you have them so we can save them for the art day.
Sunday 12th March
Classes 3S, 3T and Year 6 will be leading the Rise and Shine Service at 9:30. We would love to see you there.
Parent Consultation Evenings
Tuesday 14th March 3:30-6:30
Once again we collecting the vouchers. These are just some of the things we got following our last collection, hurdles, a football for each class, cooking items, gardening gloves and trowels, a floor word puzzle, line markers, and tennis balls to name just a few things. Thank you for sending them in, as you can see they do make a difference.
Please try to hear your child read to you regularly. If you do hear them read don't forget to make a note of it in the reading diary. It is good to read your comments. Remember to talk to your child about the story and talk about any new words they encounter. They might read fluently but if they don't understand what they have read then there is little point in reading and very little pleasure. If you would like some ideas about questions to ask your child about their understanding, please come and speak to me. Remember that it is important that you read to your child too.
The children should have four books, two they can read independently and two for you to read to them.
The reading books and diary need to be in school every day.
Don't forget Bug Club. there are lots of books there to read too.
